USCustomPostage.com Announces United States Postal Office Will Increase Rates Effective January 27, 2013

Postage increase to affect First Class, Priority Mail and Express Mail services

Beginning January 27, 2013 individuals and businesses will be paying more to mail their packages, postcards and letters via the United States Postal Service. Overall, postal rates are set to increase by an average of 2.57% with First Class Letters of one ounce increasing from $0.45 to $0.46. Other postal rate changes include:

• First Class Flats (1 oz.) increase from $0.90 to $0.92
• Postcard rates increase from $0.32 to $0.33
• Priority Mail Commercial Base (online postage) rates will increase by an average of 6.3% and will start at $5.05
• Express Mail Commercial Base (online postage) rates will increase by an average of 5.8% and will start at $13.09

The new postal rate increase comes just one year after the Postal Office increased rates in January of 2012. Still facing large deficits and losses, the USPS stated the increases were necessary in order to continue to serve customers and remain solvent.

Pam Gobiel, owner and operator of USCustomPostage.com says about the increase, “The minimal increase in postage rates could have been more. A 2.57% increase is still below that of inflation and far less than the 4.5% increase in UPS rates that took effect at the end of 2012. Even with the increases, USPS is still the best bargain around.”

Gobiel goes on to say, “We’ll be posting the new rates in an easy to understand postage rate chart once they take effect. We are a licensed USPS vendor and offer over one million designs including personalized postage stamps, graduation stamps, wedding stamps and custom photo stamps.
